Officials in Ugandan Embassy in Denmark Recalled over Embezzlement

Posted By: Insurance quotes - August 25, 2020

The ministry of Foreign Affairs has recalled staff at the Ugandan Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark implicated in a scam planning to embezzle unspent embassy funds.

In an audio clip that has circulated widely, the embassy staff who were attending a Zoom meeting discussed how to share the unspent funds for the 2019/2020 financial year. In the Zoom meeting, the diplomats agreed on how much each of the three top diplomats and the junior staff would get as per diem despite not doing any work.

The team in the audio also appeared to discuss a plan on how to bribe the auditors citing similar previous incidents at the Uganda Embassy in Switzerland. In the audio, the officials say they will disguise the unspent funds amounting to $4,000 (about Shs 14.6m) as their per diem for 8 days.

The ministry of Foreign Affairs permanent secretary Patrick Mugoya on Monday said that the staff implicated have been recalled pending investigations in the matter. However, Mugoya did not reveal the names of the implicated staff.

“The Ministry in consultation with the permanent secretary/secretary to the treasury and the Auditor General will carry out a thorough investigation into this matter. In the meantime, the officers implicated have been recalled to the headquarters to pave way for investigations” Mugoya said in a press statement.

The Head of Mission Copenhagen is Madhvani Nimisha Elly, Kamahungye Kafeero the deputy head of the mission, Alex Hope Mukubwa, the accounting officer, Gordon Katureebe, the first secretary, and Richard Biribonwoha, the third secretary among others.

According to the Public Finance Management Act, unspent funds are supposed to be returned to the Consolidated Fund. Foreign Affairs says it is disturbed by the allegations and necessary measures were going to be put in place to mitigate such from happening again.

Signs of school Bullying to students

Posted By: Insurance quotes - June 19, 2020
The start of the new school year should be a positive and exciting time for children, but for many it also means a return to being bullied, and the physical and mental health consequences that accompany it.

bullying in schools

Results of a study published in School Psychology Review found that nearly half of children in grades 4-12 reported being bullied by other students at least once during the previous month.

According to the National Bullying Prevention Center, a slightly higher portion of female than of male students report being bullied at school (23 percent versus 19 percent.)In a 2017 survey conducted by the U.S.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 19 percent of North Carolina high schoolers reported being bullied on school property within the previous year.

When broken down by gender, 23 percent of high school girls and 15 percent of high school boys in North Carolina reported being bullied at school.

Possible signs that a child is being bullied at school include:- Acting in a way that is out of character for the child, such as becoming more angry or anxious.- Trying to avoid school with excuses such as increased physical complaints.-

Demonstrating trouble with schoolwork.- Exhibiting unusual eating or sleeping habits.- Losing valuables such as lunch money or possessions.

"Bullying behavior tends to peak in middle school years, but it can happen at any age," says Dr. Michael Golinkoff of AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in healthcare solutions for those most in need."Victims of bullying may be reluctant to inform their parents or others.

So it is important for parents to be observant for signs that their child may be getting bullied and respond accordingly," he emphasizes. But parents can help stop bullying before it starts and be part of the solution when it occurs. Some steps parents can take to help their child include:-

Be informed. Find out your school’s policy on bullying and speak to the principal or other administrator.-

Be engaged. Talk to your child about his or her experience. Don’t judge, just listen.- Be a team. Involve your child in strategies to help stop the bullying. Get the teachers on board so everyone knows what to do when problem behavior occurs.

"The most important advice for a child who is being bullied is to help them develop assertiveness skills and conflict resolution skills," says Dr. Golinkoff."This includes standing up for their beliefs and ignoring negativity directed towards them. Role playing exercises can help children learn how to take a stand against an aggressor."For more information, go to amerihealthcaritas.com

How You can Mourn Your Old Normal and Adapt to The New During the pandemic COVID-19

Posted By: Insurance quotes - June 15, 2020
Deaths from the novel coronavirus COVID-19 have surpassed 110,000 in the United States and mourning the losses of these lives is important. In addition, we are also mourning lost habits and ways of life that are casualties of the coronavirus.Going out with friends, hugging a grandparent, even opening a door in a public place are on hold.

CORONA VIRUS ALERT

Some of these changes were temporary. However, even as states begin to open up, changes in how we interact with each other and the world will likely continue for far longer."We need to grieve the ways of life we have lost," according to William Glover, Ph.D., president of the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA).

"Mourning is hard work," Sigmund Freud once wrote in his essay, "Mourning and Melancholia." What makes mourning so hard is having to give up attachments – whether to people or to a way of life – that can’t be replaced.

Letting go of what we have lost helps us move on with our lives, although we will always miss the people, places, and things we have lost; in that sense mourning can never be complete.Mourning and grief are an important part of coping with loss and essential in managing changes and accepting new realities.

Recognizing that our pre-COVID lives may never return is a loss to be mourned, and the work involved in this mourning can help us move on and into the new reality.

However, some people struggle with the process more than others, and resist by responding with illusions of control, refusing to take precautions, and showing contempt for politicians and public health officials who try to explain the changing realities of daily life.In an article post on APsaA’s Psychology

Today blogsite, psychotherapist Shelley Galasso Bonanno, MA, LLP, writes, "Each person processes and expresses grief in their own individual ways, yet there is comfort and power in understanding that one is not alone during this pandemic." One way to cope with grief is by finding meaning in the present situation, although how one does so may be different for everyone.Yet finding meaning is different for everyone.

For some, it may mean providing food or assistance to a homebound neighbor, making masks for members of their community, or even donating money to help beloved organizations and venues stay afloat. Others may find meaning by expressing their emotions and reflecting on them with a therapist.Undoubtedly, there will be new ways to maintain relationships, enjoy life, and participate in activities with family and friends.

Meanwhile, being able to tolerate the pain of grief and find meaning helps sustain us in difficult times. The American Psychoanalytic Association has created a resource page for the public and mental health providers with resources to help cope with anxiety and grief during this global pandemic.

Why do modifications to my bike affect my premium?

Basically, insurers will assess the modifications to see if they enhance the performance of your motorcycle.  If the bike is more powerful as a result of the modifications, then it is more at risk of accidents. Sometimes cosmetic modifications, that do not enhance the performance, can increase the risk of theft, therefore, therefore affecting premiums.

Liability coverage will cover damage to another person in the event of an accident and property damage will cover any damage to your ride bike.  Motorcycle insurance is not an option optional choice – if you appreciate a good bike, you will appreciate good motorcycle insurance even more!

What are the benefits of motorcycle insurance?
With motorcycles becoming more and more popular as a means of transport, due to many factors including cost of maintenance, speed, accessibility to congested roads, it is important to get the right insurance policy for you and your motorcycle. To meet the minimum legal requirements a basic liability insurance will meet the required standard, you might want to consider other benefits of covering more than just the minimum.

Such as:

Underinsured / uninsured coverage. What happens if you are involved in an accident where the other party is not fully insured (or not insured at all!).  Luckily, there is an insurance policy that includes underinsured coverage an underinsured coverages and this will help pay for any damages to your motorcycle and more importantly cover medical expenses for any injuries that you may have incurred – even when the other driver has no insurance at all.

Liability – Bodily injury and Property damage. Let’s face it – accidents can, and do, happen even to the most careful drivers.   Accidents involving motorcycles can result in costly property damage and bodily injury claims.  If you don’t have the right insurance and have only insured yourself for the minimum amount you might well find yourself with a staggeringly high bill at the end of the claim.  Liability motorcycle insurance will keep you covered even when you are at fault!

Comprehensive and collision coverage. This coverage will pay for repairs (due to damage or vandalism) and/orand / or replacement to your motorcycle if it gets stolen. You will have peace of mind and you can also adjust the premium costs by changing the deductible amount for this cover.

What factors influence your motorcycle rates?

Insurance rates are not just pulled out of the air – statistics are gathered and analyzed and just like automobile insurance, motorcycle insurance rates depend on many factors, some which are similar to auto car insurance cover:  location, make of motorcycle, driver safety but there are also some differences – let’s take a look

For starters the kind of motorcycle you have… if you are commuting around the city on a small bike then most likely your insurance will save more be less than that of a high-performance, big-engine bike. When it comes to motorcycle insurance – engine size does matter as they are seen to have a greater risk for accidents.

Where you live – like cars, insurance rates for motorcycles is influenced greatly by location. If you live in a populated area (seen as a great risk for accidents) with a high rate of crime this will most definitely be reflected in your insurance premiums.

Your age is a factor which will affect your motorcycle insurance quote. It is statistically proven that younger riders are more likely to be involved in accidents…however, don’t be disheartened because the quality and experience of your driving, seen with driver and claims history, will play a part too.

It is important to speak to the experts when shopping around for cheap motorcycle insurance as there are many types of discounts that you could avail of, for example:

If you insure more than one bike – you may be liable for a discount
Bundling or multi-policymulti policy insurance cover – having more than one policy with the same insurer
Mature riders – if you have lots of rider miles behind you then some companies will offer a discount.

Do a safe driver course (with a recognized association)
Stick with the same insurance company – loyalty points mean a discount on cheap motorcycle insurance.
